Burdock House Forest School 1-14-20
After a picnic lunch at Mounds yesterday we hit the trail to see what we could find. Corina filled her backpack with acorns, hickory shells, gumballs, pine cones and a bunch of Turkey Tail and baby Honey Mushrooms and Josh was snacking on Chickweed and Garlic Mustard.
Corina also discovered and brought home one toxic mushroom which we were able to confirm 100% with spore prints at home. If you look very closely the Honey mushrooms left white prints and the Deadly Galerina left a brown print. These are all baby fungi.
If you're interested in learning more about telling these two apart we found a decent video for identifying mature mushrooms. check it out
